All coils are 100% leak tested under water using high pressure dry air 350-400 PSIG.

Row Counting Method:-

Type Of Coils:-

DX / Evaporator Coil – Vertical or V shape

DX (Direct expansion) coil is a type of evaporator coil which uses refrigerant as a cooling medium in a close loop system for cooling.

Expansion refers to the treatment of the refrigerant (expansion valve is used to reduces its pressure and temperature) before entering the evaporator.

Condenser Coil – Vertical, Horizontal, L, V, or U shape

Condenser is a heat transfer unit that helps to transfer heat to the ambient hence reducing the temperature of the refrigerant. The temperature of a condenser coil is ranging from 70°C (for heating purpose) to 40°C in a refrigeration system.

Condenser coil is made of multiple row copper tubes insert through compact fins with direct drive fan. It is normally installed with compressor and placed outdoor. It can be used  for outdoor of a split unit air conditioning, a condenser of big tonnage chiller unit for Air Handling Unit (AHU) or a condenser for cold room (temperature ranging from 10°C to -25°C) condensing unit. An air cooled condenser means using air as medium to reduce the heat/temperature of the refrigerant.

Condenser coil comes with various design. It can be in a straight vertical & horizontal shape, “L” shape, “V” shape or “U” shape.

Chilled Water Coil

Chilled water coil (CWC) is an evaporator coil uses chilled water from a chiller to provide cooling. It is normally installed in an Air Handling Unit (AHU) or a package unit. It requires a fan to draw or blow through to bring out the cooling from the chilled water into a duct directed to a room, hall, or a conceal area.

The chilled water temperature from a chiller unit pumps to CWC is around 7°C and leaving it at 12°C. The water is circulating between chiller and CWC. There is some time by requirement, CWC is used for lower temperature application. If the temperature is less than 0°C, chilled water has to be mixed with a chemical named Glycol. The fin pitch of CWC has to be increase to avoid freezing. Thermal-Matic will provide suggestion on the fin pitch when we design the coil.

Chilled water coils also known as hydronic cooling coils are typically used to cool or remove moisture from air streams. The air to be cooled moves through the fins, and either water or an ethylene or propylene glycol solution move through the tubes. This is a type of heat exchanger mostly used in commercial and industrial air handler units.

Hot Water Coil / Steam Coil

Hot water coil is similar to Chilled Water Coil but it uses hot water as a medium. It is made from row of tubes which pass through stacks of formed fins. It is widely use in food industrials for food processing to control Relative Humidity (RH) and timber or wood related industrial as a dryer.

The temperature of hot water in Hot Water Coil is ranging from 40°C to 80°C. Hot water coil is usually installed in front of Chilled Water coil in an AHU for the purpose of controlling supply air RH. As cold air passes across hot water coil and contact with it surface area, heat will transfer from the flowing hot water in tubes to fins and finally to the cold air.

Steam coil is normally use in air heating application. It is design for transferring high temperature to the air passing through it. The steam temperature normally supplies from boiler to steam coil is more than 100°C. It is important to ensure a steam coil installed in a smooth loop system where leaving steam or condensate steam drain out from the system fast. Else pressure will build up in the steam coil and hence to cause leakage of the steam coil. That is why a steam coil does not apply in a close-loop system. Condensate steam that leave steam coil must be drained out smooth and fast.
